          Welcome back to BCC!  Let’s begin with

          two great bear stories by Jez Alborough.

          Bring your own “teddy” or favorite stuffed   

        animal to dance with this month.

Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?

          Let’s pretend to be animals and make lots    

          of noise!  What animal do you want to be?

          Come choose your favorite!

 

AUGUST 31-SEPTEMBER 3

   Big Smelly Bear

          Big Smelly Bear has an itch he can’t

          scratch.  Will his friend help him out?

          “Only if you take a bath,” says Big Fluffy

          Bear.  A bath?  Not me!

Dive into our imaginary ocean and visit with our underwater “friends” this month.

 

You are invited to attend the

4th Birthday Party for Bear Cub Club

on Friday, Sept. 10, 10:00-11:00, in the gym.

We will not have regular BCC that day.

 

SEPTEMBER 7-9                A Star at the Bottom

                                                                                 of the Sea                     

                       Little Starfish wants to leave the ocean

                       and live in the sky so she can shine like

                       the other stars.  She soon learns that

                       shining isn’t fun if you don’t have your

                       friends with you.

 

SEPTEMBER 14-17                     Rainbow  Fish

                                                                 Discovers the Deep Sea

                       Rainbow Fish loses his last shiny scale

                       and travels to the deepest waters of

                       the ocean to find it.  What will he see

                       in the deep blue sea?

 

SEPTEMBER 21-24                    Over in the Ocean

                       Let’s sing a song of the sea as we meet

                       the sea creatures in this counting

                       rhyme book.  Come see the beautiful  

                  pictures and hear the silly song.

 

SEPTEMBER 28- Oct 1                    Mister Seahorse

                       What’s hiding in the tall grasses of the

                       sea?  What interesting creatures could

                       it be?  I think I see Daddy Seahorse

                       and his friends.  Look closely at Eric

                       Carle’s hidden pictures to find them.

                       OCTOBER: "IF"...ITS A VERY SMALL WORD

July 18-24: “Pond” Join us as we take a “Peek at a Pond” in the story by Neey Twinem, and then act out how “Five Little Speckled Frogs” play on their lillypads! We’ll hop, skip, and jump on our own lillypads, too, then watch how saltwater and freshwater creatures know how to swim back to their own environments. Watch as we show you how to make your own frog artwork! Lynn Meadows Discovery Center will be CLOSED all day on Saturday, July 24. July 25-31: “Kites” Let’s go fly a kite—and sing and dance, too! We’ll make our own kites, then play with long scarves as we act like we’re flying our kites high into the sky.  We can cool down while we read about kites in “Someone Bigger” by Jonathan Emmett. In August, Bear Cub Fitness Club will be held on Saturdays only. Saturday, August 7 Join us for Bear Cub Fitness Club, 10am-12pm, in Bear Camp Bayou, for singing, dancing, playing, story-telling, laughing, and art to go! For children ages 5 and under, free with admission or membership.
